Dry Water Farm

SUMMER PROGRAM 2008

X   Summer Day Camp Program

At Dry Water Farm your child will not only learn riding, they will experience horse care and the management skills needed to become a real horseman.

Dry Water is a family farm built on 35 acres of farmland.  We have 32 horses on the property, a large indoor arena (80 x 200), beautiful outdoor arena (150 x 200) and a scenic perimeter trail. Dry Water feels like you are far from any city and set in the country!

The Program that we offer teaches all aspects of horse care revolving around safety for both students and horses.  We offer a fun safe environment for all students to learn from beginner to advanced.  All of our licensed instructors are committed to giving your child the best summer experience

X Daily Activities

Horse care:

As students will learn, there is a lot more to horses then just riding! Throughout the sessions we will show them what it takes to provide care for a horse on a day-to-day basis.  Some of the topics we will cover include:  Feeding and nutrition, Grooming, First Aid, Show preparation and horse behavior.

Riding:

Students ride at least once a day.  We will work on many different things including rider position and equitation, to use effective and efficient aids to communicate with their equine partner.  Our riding is based around safety and having fun too.  We will work in all gaits of the horse- walk, trot and canter.  Depending on students’ ability level we will do small jumping and lower level dressage movements as well as some bareback riding and games. Riders will be able to learn about and experience different breeds of horses as well as different disciplines of riding.
